Quilling Workshop

Here is some work from the students who took my Quilling Workshop on Friday. We had a lot of fun, and I was incredibly impressed with how well everyone did. Quilling takes a lot of patience, and they managed to sit through 2 hours of it. This was an incredibly diverse group of people (about 14):

Quality Quilling

Tomorrow I'm teaching an art/science workshop called Quality Quilling. I had to prepare for it this evening by shredding paper, and then making delicate little flowers. For some reason, a lot of people have been calling about this workshop, and I'm a little nervous about teaching it.

More Stippling

So this section of the triceratops took about an hour to stipple. I've decided that the reason I like stippling so much is because it's mindless, and sometimes I need a little break.

The Blik finally arrived...

...and now my apartment has iron vines in the living room. It required a little furniture rearrangement, but it looks and feels so much better. We actually stayed close to one of my original designs from August with a few miner changes here and there. Now I just need some new pillows, curtains, lighting fixtures...

A little creative inspiration with Rugby

I've been in a bad mood for the past few days, which was made worse by getting a call at 7:30 this morning from a coworker who was calling in sick. I had to teach a "Fur & Feathers" class today which was not on my already packed agenda. The one great thing about working at a museum, is that on occasion, when you do teach, you forget about everything else for the hour. I had to use every creative bone in my body to keep the attention of these 2 & 3 year old's, and more importantly their moms and caregivers. Rugby, the Guinea pig helped out immensely. After the class, I was exhausted, but I got to color, craft, pet an animal, go outside, and look at squirrels.

Triceratops 2

Here is some more stippling.

Bearded Dragon Sketch

Occasionally I get requests from the graphics department: "Hey Marcos, can you go draw us a bearded dragon for a poster we're doing."

Here is one of the sketches from today...

A Triceratops named Jane

I haven't worked with pen and ink in a while, so I'm going to focus on it this week. This will be a picture of a mother Triceratops playing with a baby triceratops. I'm trying to be as even with my stippling as possible, so it's taking a lot longer then my other stippled projects.

Roaches on MSNBC

I was requested to speak on behalf of our Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches for MSNBC. This was the first time I've done national TV, and it was a little strange, especially since I had to hold roaches. The picture at the studio is really blurry, but once I get the video from our clipping service, I'll post it.

Sir Sagramoure Play Script

Today I worked a lot on the script of Sir Sagramoure. It is really rough going. I had actually shopped it out to a writer who dropped out, and then to another who dropped, so I now have to work on it. It's sort of a forced creativity, but creative none the less.

Here are my three favorite things about Sir Sagramoure:
He likes chickens
He likes optical illusions
He's not afraid to take a nap

Special Guest Stars: Marcos & Rugby

When I found out late last night that I had to go pick up a guinea pig this morning at 8 am- I was incredibly unhappy- that was until I met Rugby. Rugby and I had to guest star in a Preschool Adventure today, called Fur & Feathers. I know nothing about guinea pigs- but I don't think the 4 year olds could tell. We just talked about how guinea pigs make good pets, but if you were to encounter one in the wild, you shouldn't go and touch it. Not all guinea pigs are as nice as Rugby

The most important thing I learned in London

Looks like Fergi had a little too much Grey Goose when her bridge was going down...

Trail

I went a lot of places today. This is sort of what my path looked like:

Planetarium Presentations

I had to jaunt in to the the Hall today to fill in for a planetarium presentation. I forgot how much I like to do these. It's fun to be a presenter once in a while, and I had 50 people at the show (the planetarium only seats 35). Nothing like seeing people clamor for some good ol' astronomy. This summer we're doing a night sky show featuring the myth of Orion, Scorpio, and Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus is my favorite constellation, because he falls into the Zodiac, but is not listed. A Mysterious Bachelor Party...

When throwing a mysterious bachelor party, one only need to go to Ninja New York

This was one of the most creative places I've ever had the pleasure of eating. A real ninja castle in the middle of NYC. We started with a tasting menu of Saki

Then had the real tasting menu, which included things called the Magic Cauldron, and this fish thing made inside of a grapefruit. When you pulled the sword out, it started smoking. Who doesn't love playing with swords during dinner? I also had some conk that involved fireworks, and a magician who provided some white ninja magic.

How's this for a creative desert? and a few drinks after...
